Welcome to Advanced Scoliosis Care
An independently owned and operated  private clinic in Bryan, TX specializing in the treatment of scoliosis and kyphosis across the lifespan
A new diagnosis of Scoliosis, or news that an existing curve is progressing, can be overwhelming and even frightening for patients and families. Traditional treatment models of observation, bracing and surgery did not allow patients to take a active approach to their care; however, the Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic Rehabilitation and Treatment (SOSORT) has published guidelines for non-surgical intervention. Scoliosis Specific Exercise provided by a well-trained therapist is the first step of recommended active intervention. You no longer have to “wait and see”. You can take a proactive approach to caring for your spine. Contact us today to find out more information.

Schroth Based Physical Therapy

Developed in the 1920s in Germany, the Schroth Method is one of the recognized forms of scoliosis specific exercise schools by SOSORT and the SRS. The method used at Advanced Scoliosis Care is based on the original works of Katherina Schroth with advanced concepts developed by Dr. Manuel Rigo of the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS). It is a conservative, proactive physical therapy approach for patients with scoliosis and kyphosis. It has been available in the United States since 2005 and is gaining ground as the conservative treatment of choice with recent research indicating its efficacy. It can be used in all stages of treatment and for young patients to older adults. Through curve  specific exercise training, patients learn to improve their alignment, elongate the spine, expand areas of collapse on their body and control internal volumes to reshape the torso. Patients are progressively challenged to maintain corrections in different positions, increase muscle activation / tensions and learn how to integrate corrections into daily movement patterns. The result is a decrease in pain, slowing or halting of curve progression, improved pulmonary function and improved postural balance.
